About the Artist
With a background in design and illustration, Julie Svendsen has created designs and concept illustrations for theme parks, museums, exhibits, plush and small toys for such companies as Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Stores, Disney Publishing Worldwide, Disney Cruise Lines, Ocean Futures Society and Mariposa Design.
For more than 25 years Julie created show and attraction concepts for the theme park, themed entertainment, toy and publishing industries.
While at Disney she was instrumental in generating key designs for Disney and Pixar character plush and small toys, Disney’s California Adventure (Anaheim, CA), Tokyo Disney Seas (Tokyo), Disney Stores (North America), Disney Cruise Lines, Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Walt Disney World), Hong Kong Disneyland (Hong Kong), Disneyland Paris (Paris), Pop Century Resort Hotels (Walt Disney World), Blizzard Beach (Walt Disney World), Typhoon Lagoon (Walt Disney World) Enchanted Tiki Room (Walt Disney World), Hollywood Hotel (Hong Kong Disneyland) and World of Disney (Walt Disney World).
One of Julie’s special accomplishments include a “Best New Attraction of 2001” Thea Award from the Themed Entertainment Association for the “Disney Animation” attraction for Disney’s California Adventure.
NOTE: The prestigious Thea Award recognizes and honors excellence in the creation of outstanding visitor experiences, attractions, shows, exhibits and places. The Themed Entertainment Association is a non-profit organization representing the world’s leading creators, developers, designers and producers of compelling places and experiences. These awards are equivalent to the Oscar in the world of themed entertainment.
Julie continues pursuing her interest in figure and landscape painting.
